Realme X50 Pro 5G India Launch on February 24
Realme has sent out mailers revealing that the Realme X50 Pro 5G will launch in India on February 24, the same day as its global launch event.
The company had earlier planned to launch the phone globally on the floors of Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, but post the event's cancellation over coronavirus fears, the company is now hosting an online launch event for the phone.
The event will be live streamed for fans across the world. The Realme X50 Pro 5G phone is teased to be ‘India's first 5G smartphone', same as iQoo that is also claiming the same title and will be unveiled on February 25.
Since Realme is holding the X50 Pro 5G event a day earlier, it will be the first smartphone brand to introduce a 5G phone that rocks a Snapdragon 865 processor. The Realme X50 Pro 5G has been confirmed to come with 5G support, a Snapdragon 865 SoC, a 90Hz display, 65W SuperDart Charge technology, and a dual punch-hole setup.
But while Realme could now become the first brand to launch India's first 5G phone, the X50 Pro 5G may take some time before hitting the shelves. India does not have a 5G network infrastructure, which makes the proposition meaningless for Realme and IQOO. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is yet to float a paper among the telecom companies and initiate the auction process for 5G spectrum. Analysts have speculated 5G will not be commercially available until next year, which has some weight given the current scenario.
