The central government has decided not to give ration cards after September 30 for those who do not have aadhaar link.
All members of the card, other than the ration card holder, must link to the Aadhaar. The card name will not be removed unless Aadhaar is linked, which will prevent the ration products from getting.

Advantages of linking a ration card with Aadhaar
Linking Aadhaar with ration card will reduce the number of people holding fake ration cards. With this, subsidies will be diverted to the rightful owners, i.e, people below the poverty line.
Once Aadhaar is linked to the ration card, every family will be entitled to only one ration card and won’t be able to hold more ration cards on the basis of fake details.
People won’t be able to hoard food grains and misuse the services once ration card is linked to the aadhaar.
Public Distribution System (PDS) with the biometric facility will be able to identify genuine and deserving beneficiaries and can extend benefits accordingly.
Ration for the PDS shops won’t get misplaced or stolen once aadhaar is linked to the ration card
An audit trail is created in the Public Distribution System with the help of Aadhaar which helps in uprooting the corrupt middlemen thus increasing the transparency and efficiency of the system
How to link Aadhaar with the Ration card?
Aadhaar can be linked to the ration card via three modes:
- By visiting a PDS centre/ration office/Offline
- Online mode
- Link via SMS
Online linking of Aadhaar to Ration Card
1) Visit the official Aadhaar seeding website and click on "Start Now".
2) Enter your details such as name, address
3) Now, select the Benefit Type from option menu and click on "Ration Card".
4) Enter your ration card number, Aadhaar number, email address and mobile number.
5) You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number. Enter this OTP to process the application.
After successful verification of the details provided by the officials, you will receive a notification informing you that your Aadhaar card has been linked to your ration card.
